The Medical Assistant performs basic medical procedures to assist physician in evaluation and treatment of patients.
Prepare patient for examination and treatment. Take vital signs, height, weight, etc
May assist in minor surgery: clean and prep op-site. Set up sterile trays and assist in sterile procedures. Sterilize and wrap surgical instruments.
Obtain lab specimens, perform routine lab procedures, and operate lab equipment (autoclave, microscope centrifuge, and hemogloinometer)
Perform EKG’s and basic Arrhythmia recognition
Change sterile dressings, remove sutures and skin clips.
General office bookkeeping, coding and filing insurance claims.
Practice Universal precautions.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
High School Diploma and Graduate of Medical Assistant Training
Ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute accurately.
Three (3) to six (6) months on-the-job training as required to attain proficiency of assigned duties and/or
POSITION PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess physical ability to endure prolonged sitting;
moderate walking; lifting and carrying; exerting up to 20
pounds of force occasionally; and/or up to 10 pounds of force
frequently; and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to
move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of
those for sedentary work.
Obtain patient history and take vital signs to assist physician with examination and treatment.
Prepare and maintain examination and treatment area.
Perform selected test that assist with diagnosis and treatment. Screen and follow-up patient test results.
Prepare and administer medications as directed by physician and maintain medication records.
