The Radiation Therapy Technologist is accountable for administering prescribed ionizing radiation treatments through a variety of therapeutic equipment and in accordance with the prescription and instruction of the physician.
Assists oncologist in all aspects of the administration of radiation therapy treatments.
Exposes specific areas of the patient's body to prescribed doses of ionizing radiation in accordance with physician's instructions.
Administers treatments through the use of a variety of therapeutic equipment.
Observes patient during treatment to report any unusual adverse reactions to physician.
Maintains radiation safety for patients and clinical personnel including themselves.
Participates in treatment planning procedures and may assist in dosimetry procedures.
Assures that equipment is in proper working order and reports any malfunction.
Prepares room, equipment and patient for treatment.
Prepares and maintains necessary records, reports and files.
Maintains equipment, room and supplies in a neat and orderly manner.
Performs other related duties as required.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiation Therapy Technology and registered as a Radiation Therapy Technologist
Registered Radiologic Technologist with minimum of one year's experience in Radiation Therapy procedures.
Accountable for administering prescribed radiation therapy treatments according to physician instruction.
Accountable for safety of patients and hospital personnel associated with treatments.
Accountable for preparation and maintenance of records, reports and files of Radiation Therapy Department.
