The Education Coordinator is accountable for planning, developing, coordinating, and evaluating education/training programs to provide all employees with educational opportunities which are consistent with all applicable guidelines.
The Education Coordinator reports to the Administrator or designee and may supervise clerical personnel.
The Education Coordinator has frequent contact with staff of the unit at all levels; Corporate Director of Education; staff of affiliated clinical education programs offered in the hospital; members of the local community; community agencies; physicians; and professional organizations.
Establishes the philosophy and objectives of the unit's education department with input from staff.
Conducts need assessments to determine in-services and program needs for all employees.
Reviews and evaluates new and existing curricula for adaptation to local needs.
Develops and conducts education/training programs based on adult learning theory.
Organizes, conducts, and/or assists in conducting conferences, workshops, seminars, etc., for all employees.
Develops and conducts in-service education programs on teaching methodologies for management staff.
Prepares and/or recommends instructional materials, teaching aids, and audio-visual equipment for employees and assists with the development of patient education materials.
Implements General Orientation program for all new employees.
Maintains education/training records using Employment Development Record.
Evaluates the effectiveness of education/training activities in relation to QI studies and recommends/makes necessary program changes.
Maintains HSTN programming and encourages use of HSTN.
Performs other related duties as required.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Baccalaureate Degree in one of the appropriate Allied Health Professions, and working experience in a hospital environment.
