The Retail Pharmacy Manager is responsible for providing quality, comprehensive pharmaceutical care and services to patients at any ARH or affiliated unit as assigned. The Retail Pharmacy Manager will serve as the operations manager and PIC of record.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for properly assessing patients' pharmaceutical needs and providing pharmaceutical care.
• Responsible for the accurate and proper compounding and dispensing of prescribed medications and solutions.
• Responsible for the proper storage, inventory, and record keeping of medications including controlled substances.
• Responsible for properly counseling patients/patients' families, and appropriate health care professionals regarding drug therapy.
• Responsible for administering vaccines and other injections.
• Responsible for daily pharmacy workflow and retail pharmacy operation.
Activities:
• Supervises and performs the functions involved in the accurate and efficient dispensing of prescriptions.
• Reviews, fills, and verifies medication orders for accuracy and completeness for dispensing.
• Monitors patient's drug therapy to detect/prevent drug interactions, contraindications, and other adverse reactions.
• Makes appropriate interventions to improve patient care.
• Uses and is proficient in the operation of the pharmacy computer system.
• Compounds and dispenses medications and other pharmaceutical agents/products.
• Obtains pertinent patient medication/medical information.
• Provides current and accurate drug information to patients and health care professionals.
• Maintains appropriate records and inventory on all drugs/pharmaceutical agents.
• Monitors the proper storage and distribution of inventory, including controlled substances.
• Communicates effectively with patients, health care professionals, and coworkers.
• Trains and supervises pharmacy supportive personnel, including, but not limited to staff pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, attendants, delivery drivers, and pharmacy care navigators.
• Maintains and directs pharmacy operational workflow.
• Serves on hospital and system committees as assigned.
• Dispense and/or administer medications to patients in accordance with ARH policies, including but not limited to, all routes of immunizations, naloxone, and injectable medications where permitted by law.
• Complete and properly document medication therapy management interventions.
• Ensures compliance with company and legal policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Ensures confidentiality of information, documentation, and records.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education
• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree
• Current state pharmacist licensure in good standing or licensure eligibility in state of employment within 90 days of hire
• Immunization certification
Minimum Work Experience
Preferred 1-2 years of retail or ambulatory pharmacy experience
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
For Retail/Ambulatory pharmacy practice: will obtain and maintain the training and education needed to provide comprehensive pharmacy services, including but not limited to naloxone, immunization certification, medication therapy management, state and federal laws and regulations.
