The Student Employee under the KTECH program will work closely with healthcare professionals from a variety of departments in order to properly train and prepare them for the workforce upon graduation of high school. The role of the KTECH Student Employee includes but is not limited to; changing unoccupied bed linens, assist with obtaining and recording patient information, assist with the processing of specimens for testing, using first aid and safety measures, cleaning and restocking after patient procedures, assist with patient care and oversite of patient safety.

Under the continuous direct on-site supervision of a Healthcare Professional:

• Shadows and assist a variety of healthcare professionals.


• Assists with basic personal care services as appropriate and as assigned.


• Assists with changing unoccupied bed linens.


• Assists with obtaining and recording patient information.


• Assist with the collection and processing of specimens for patient testing.


• Uses proper first aide and safety measures.


• Cleaning and restocking inventory after patient use or procedures.


• Assist with patient care.


• Oversite of patient safety.


• Attending mandatory meetings or trainings.


• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• A current high school student in one of the participating KTECH school systems.
