The Graduate Nurse (Unlicensed) is accountable for providing nursing care to groups of patients within an assigned nursing division, under the supervision, guidance, and direction of a Registered Nurse.
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse interprets plan of medical care and devises the nursing care plan and provides guidance to nursing personnel in the implementation of these plans by:
Preparing the patient assessment form;
Formulating the objectives of the nursing care plan; interpreting the medical care plan;
Planning and directing the LPN, Nurse Aides, and Nursing Service Clerks activities of the nursing care program; and
May make nursing judgements only with prior consultation with a Registered Nurse.
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse performs nursing functions requiring skill and judgement by:
Maintains records and reports necessary information in regard to patient care.
Confers periodically with the Registered Nurse, Head Nurse, and/or Nurse Supervisor on activities of the nursing staff and matters related to nursing care.
Assists in patient and family education.
Serves as a liaison between the patient and other members of the Health Team.
Maintains a safe environment for patient care.
Participates in in-service and continuing education activities.
Serves on hospital and nursing committees and participates in activities of the nursing staff.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing (Associate, Diploma or Degree).
Pass physical examination.
POSITION PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess the physical ability needed to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally; and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently; and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for light work.
