The Radiology Worker is responsible for performing a variety of clerical tasks involving processing, filing, and retrieving patient x-ray film as well as transporting the patients to and from the radiology department as necessary.
Prepares patient file folders and assembles necessary documentation.
Prepares x-ray films for reading by physician.
Files x-ray files and reports in accordance with established filing system.
Maintains a sign out system to assure proper accounting for x-ray film.
Retrieves x-ray films from files and delivers to requesting physician in the hospital and/or prepares for mailing.
Collects x-ray film on loan to other services or areas and replaces in proper location.
Performs general clerical duties such as answering the phone, scheduling appointments, and preparing charge slips for services when clerk-typist is not on duty.
Maintains general file area in a neat and orderly manner.
Transport patients and charts to and from various patient areas to Radiology treatment or diagnostic areas.
Loads and unloads x-ray film cassettes and processed film from automatic processing unit.
May prepare photographic solutions for processing of exposed x-ray films.
May clean automatic processor, x-ray screens and cassettes in accordance with maintenance schedule.
Maintains darkroom, x-ray waiting area and x-ray exam rooms in a safe, clean and orderly manner.
May be required to assist patients in dressing room and preparing for exam or with restroom functions if patient’s condition requires.
May assist technologist in lifting and assisting patients to and from x-ray exam table.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
POSITION PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess physical ability to endure prolonged periods of standing and walking; lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling; exerting up to 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Graduate or GED equivalent; and
Grade 2: Three months experience in a hospital setting performing filing or aide duties.
Grade 4: Twelve months experience in a Radiology Department.
