Overview

The OR Director ensures service development, personnel management and resource allocation and control to support and enhance patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates an ongoing service program that ensures quality healthcare programs consistent with the hospital mission.
  • Monitors compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and organizational policies for patient services and environmental and personnel safety.
  • Accurately identifies real/potential problems affecting the service and implements solutions with follow-through and communication.
  • Participates in the preparation of the budgets (Capitol and Operating)  for the Surgical Services department and assists with management of approved expenditures.
  • Serves as a resource to nurses and department managers within and across service lines.
  • Fosters a service, which is consistent with the patient care beliefs and shared management philosophy of the department.
  • Actively participates on service, departmental, and organizationalwide committees as assigned, providing ongoing communication to those one represents.
  • Seeks new program strategies and program enhancements that will expand client care services.
  • Is responsible for the department’s operational excellence and ensures that the department delivers quality services, in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards.
  • Manages Surgical Services department to ensure quality services and promotes positive employee relations.
  • Is responsible for the fiscal management of department and ensures the proper utilization of the organization’s financial resources.

 

Qualifications


Minimum Education

• BSN strongly preferred.
• MS desired (in administrative services preferred).

 

Minimum Work Experience

• Three years in an administrative management role preferred.
• At least 5 years of Perioperative Nursing experience required.

 

Required Licenses/Certifications

• Current state registration as an RN (or eligibility to do so).
• CNOR certification, preferred

 

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Knowledge of surgical services management, program development, and fiscal management skills and familiarity with regulatory and accrediting agency standards preferred.
