The System Director of Behavioral Health Nursing, is responsible for advising and leading the Behavioral Health Service Line’s nursing programming and operations, enterprise-wide.
Responsibilities
Act as the organization’s subject-level expert on Behavioral Health nursing, and advise other organizational and community stakeholders on the importance and efficacy of Behavioral Health nursing interventions.
In collaboration with Behavioral Health Medical, Clinical and Administrative leadership, develop, optimize and oversee the organization’s inpatient behavioral health clinical operations.
Standardize Behavioral Health nursing staffing ratios across the organization’s inpatient psychiatry beds, ensuring staffing is appropriately flexed up and down, based on census and acuity.
Standardize Behavioral Health nursing practice across all inpatient units, to ensure the highest level of patient care, system-wide.
Developing and operationalizing a Behavioral Health nurse/tech float program,
Work with local CNO’s and Psych Nursing Directors and Managers to operationalize system-wide Behavioral Health nursing initiatives.
Lead nursing/tech/sitter recruitment and retention efforts for the service-line.
In conjunction with Behavioral Health Service Line Leadership, this role will assist in strategic planning and complete budget activities.
In conjunction with Behavioral Health Service Line Leadership, use outcome and financial data to develop proposals and business plans that are in concert with the mission/vision of the service-line.
Use regulatory, compliance, etc., standards in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs.
Develop programs and proposals which include supportive data, cost/benefit analysis, and evaluation plans.
Participate in departmental coverage to maintain adequate staffing. Seek to eliminate duplication among staff or omission of unnecessary services or intervention. Investigate and assist patients and families in securing needed resources for financial and other services to ensure continuity of care.
Functions as a part of the management team and assists in strategic planning.
Maintains an integrated services system that focuses on patient recovery, collaborates with other disciplines, departments, and treatment teams, and assures a collaborative approach.
Works directly with clinical and non-clinical staff in resolving patient problems and service issues.
Ensure high level of satisfaction from patients.
Provide leadership in communicating the philosophy of a customer-focused environment and the expectation of service excellence throughout the organization.
Demonstrates collaborative management style to work alongside other leaders and managers to support clinical functions.
Collaborates with administrators, physicians, service line leaders, and others.
Maintains Professional and Technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing professional networks; participating in professional societies; maintaining professional certifications and licenses; completing required annual training within established timeframes. Available to take administrative calls and work varied hours.
