The Recreation Worker is accountable for providing appropriate therapeutic recreation for patients.
Plans and organizes recreation program for patients to effect improvement in their physical, mental, and social well- being.
Organizes such activities as sports, dramatics, nature study, social activities, games, and arts and crafts in accord with patients' needs, capabilities, and interests as determined by discussions with other members of the rehabilitation team and interviews with the patient.
Prepares reports for medical staff and other members of treatment team reflecting patients' reactions and symptoms of patients' progress or regression.
Surveys the therapeutic recreation program and recommends changes or modifications. Prepares budgets and periodic reports of activities.
Orders and maintains supply of recreation apparatus and equipment.
Maintains close and cooperative association with therapeutic recreation departments in other community agencies.
May make arrangements for movies, live entertainment for special programs, and group outings such as picnics, ball games, or sightseeing.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Bachelors degree in recreation therapy or recreation preferred or Bachelors degree in physical education, social science, job guidance, art or other related area.
