Overview

The Cardiovascular Cardiographic Interpreter is responsible for monitoring patient's cardiac rhythms accurately and identifying and initiating appropriate actions should ECG pattern change on a monitor screen.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the interpreting cardiovascular cardiac rhythm.

 

Identifies patient cardiac rhythm as observed on a monitoring device.

 

Initiates appropriate action should ECG pattern change.

 

Run permanent rhythm strip when appropriate.

 

Informs nurse in charge of pattern changes appropriate.

 

Informs nurse in charge of pattern changes when appropriate.

 

Identifies rhythm strip as to patient name, rate time, and interval reading.

 

Ability to interpret arrhythmias that include more sophisticated features such as a sinus arrest, pacemakers, aberrancy, and blocked beats.

 

Ability to distinguish subtle EKG findings, concealed conduction, reciprocal conduction, trifascicular block, his bundle recording.

 

Identify and describe pathophysiological effect on EKG rhythm.

 

Performs all clerical duties as assigned.

 

Performs other duties as assigned

 

Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general and department/service safety specific job‑related hazards.

 

Follows the hospital exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens.

 

Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.

 

Promotes effective working relations both inter- and intradepartmentally to promote system-wide continuity of care.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Education

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

 

Successful completion of 40-hour ARH course in Basic Dysrhythmia
Recognition & successful completion of test.

 

Minimum Work Experience

One (1) month to three (3) months on-the-job training to attain proficiency of performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.

 

Formal training in a certified or licensed program within a minimum of 12 months training or 5 years experience in advanced monitoring.

 

Required Licenses/Certifications

BLS

 

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Must be proficient in Windows, Word, and other basic computer skills
• Must be detailed oriented and thorough in order to the complex
• Must be able to communicate will with a wide variety of contacts at all levels of the organization and with external organizations
• Maintains strict confidentiality with regard to protected health information and provider information
• Must display a commitment to the Code of Ethics of their governing boards
• Required to comply with OSHA regulations for the N95 respirator training and fit testing
