The ARH System Volunteer Director will provide oversite and coordination to Appalachian Regional Healthcare’s volunteer programs across the 14 hospital system. The System Volunteer Director will be responsible for working directly with facility CEO’s in standardizing and expanding the volunteer programs across the system, as well as developing standard guidelines and programs.
1. Development and Implementation of effective system-wide volunteer management program.
• Develop system-wide standardized volunteer-related procedures, policies, and forms.
• Create a comprehensive orientation program for system-wide volunteers that encourage lifelong learning and development and encourage volunteer retention.
• Work with local volunteer coordinators to recruit, orient, train, supervise and recognize volunteers
• Assist local volunteer coordinators in determining optimum utilization of volunteers.
• Work with leadership and volunteer coordinators to create and standardize volunteer positions
2. Facilitate the establishment and expansion of the volunteer program and effectively engage increased numbers of volunteers.
• Design and implement a system-wide volunteer recruitment strategy using best practices in volunteer management.
• Utilize online Volunteer Management software to keep up to date Volunteer records and time logs.
• Work with HR to develop system-wide standard processes for volunteer background checks, proof of immunization, TB test, and annual evaluations.
• Work with Community Development, Marketing, and Foundation Coordinator to develop and maintain communications and connections with community organizations to spread awareness about the various volunteer opportunities, recruit new volunteers and promote the ARH Foundation.
• Develop volunteer retention activities while also working with volunteer coordinators to coordinate activities and maintain volunteer engagement system-wide.
3. Provide oversight to the system’s gift shop operations, developing standardized guidelines and processes.
• Review and monitor system-wide schedules, budgets and buying process for hospital gift shops.
• Evaluate the efficacy of gift shops and make recommendations for improvement
• Organize retail ordering for gift shops, and coordinate with local gift shops to maintain group buying power
• Responsible for working with accounting to ensure each facility’s gift shops sales tax reports are submitted and bank accounts reconciled.
• Work with local volunteer coordinators to maintain volunteer schedules for gift shops, and assist with day-to-day program coordination in conjunction with any other staff members
Education
• Bachelor’s Degree required, Masters Preferred
Minimum Work Experience
• Background in volunteer/project management, fundraising or marketing and public relations
