The Respiratory Care Supervisor is responsible for directing and coordinating the overall operation of the Respiratory Department.
• Licensure by the West Virginia Board of Respiratory Care and BLS certified.
• Regards to Respiratory, oversees Cardiopulmonary patients and assesses their condition to determine proper handling and special requirements.
• Must possess good oral and written communication skills. Shares knowledge and skills with peers and students.
• Reasoning Ability: must have the ability to solve practical problems. Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions; i.e. verbal, written, diagrammatic or in schedule form.
• Leadership Skills: Must be proactive and a self-starter. Demonstrates the ability to handle difficult and/or stressful situations calmly and professionally without portraying negative emotion or hostility. Must possess effective planning/organizational skills. Must plan and organize work in a manner that enables flexibility to changing priorities. Demonstrates the ability and/or willingness to work varying hours. Must possess an acceptable attendance record.
• Verifies and completes logged procedures on the IT board. Reviews ECG Management for unreconciled/unlinked procedures and takes steps to resolve the issues.
• Oversees departmental supplies.
• Supervises and maintains the respiratory department complies with standards established by the hospital, state and federal regulatory agencies. Participates in Quality Assessment and Improvement for the respiratory department.
• Oversees training and staff development in the respiratory department ensuring all employees receive proper orientation.
• Performs other duties as required.
• Collects student documents and supplies them to college designee. Oversees students as needed.
• Monitors the quality of work performed by staff and makes recommendations to improve quality.
• Coordinates workflow eliminating unnecessary delays for the patients and establishing priorities for patient exams and treatments, as evidence by direct observation and feedback from others.
• Demonstrates the ability to make difficult decisions and communicates in a positive manner, as evidence by direct supervision.
• Maintains a professional image and role modeling behavior, as evidence by direct observation and feedback from others.
• Develops and maintains a positive attitude as evidence by direct observation and feedback from others.
• Demonstrates understanding of accreditation standards including Health Department, DNV, State of WV, OSHA and other governing bodies.
Education
• Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
Minimum Work Experience
• Minimum 3 years experience in Respiratory therapy

• Aerosol therapy
• Airway management
• BLS, ACLS and PALS
• Knowledge and skills to use all equipment pertaining to respiratory therapy.
• Maintains appropriate knowledge of all regulations and standards relating to the practices of respiratory therapy.
