Overview

The Sterile Process Tech is responsible for providing and maintaining a sterile field for all procedures to ensure optimal patient care, under the direction and supervision of the professional nurse.

Responsibilities

Functions as a cooperative, active member of the surgical team and assists with all duties in and supplies for cases to follow. 

Qualifications

TECHNICAL

 

1.             High school graduate.

2.             Previous experience as a nursing assistant or graduate of an accredited nursing assistant training program.

3.             Possesses exceptional ability and skills in performing duties of scrub technician.

4.             Has satisfactory attendance at inservice and staff development programs.

5.             Favorable work reference.

 

 

PERSONAL

 

1.             Evidence of good health, grooming and professional conduct.

2.             Desire and ability to cooperate with and/or under the direction of others.

3.             Posses a sense of responsibility, initiative and honesty.

4.             Ability to follow directions accurately.

5.             Desire to be part of a health care team dedicated to providing optimal patient care.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

1.             Must be able to read and write.

2.             Must be able to push, pull, lift 100 lbs plus with assistance.

3.             Must be able to stand on feet for 10 hours per 12 hour shift.

4.             Must be able to bend, squat, and stoop.

5.             Must be dependable.

6.             Must have no hearing or visual deficits with corrective apparel in use.

7.             Must attend mandatory meetings (staff meetings, patient care inservices).

8.             Must attend mandatory inservices (fire, safety, hazard, infection control, OSHA bloodborne pathogens, and CPR).
