Overview

Overview
Performs nuclear medicine imaging studies in accordance with physician orders and departmental guidelines.
Prepares and transports patients as necessary.
Prepares imaging equipment, room, and images, as need for interpretation.
Verifies and completes studies in RIS and PACS.
Maintains Quality Control on Equipment as Instructed.

Special Instructions

Full time Nuc Med Tech Day-shift Monday- Friday 40 hours

Responsibilities

• Prepare radioactive isotopes for administration to patients.
• Fill hypodermic syringe with specified amount of isotope and tagging component
• Observe strict precautions in handling isotopes to safeguard against overexposure to radiation.
• Follow recommended guidelines of the nuclear regulatory commission (NRC) A.L.A.R.A. program.
• Operate gamma camera and related computers.
• Keep records of tests conducted, test results, use, and disposition of isotopes.
• Follows the hospital exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
• Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to
ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
• Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter- and
intradepartmentally to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
• Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety,
department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
• Must be available for on call assignments, as needed.

Qualifications

Education
Associate's Degree Graduate of an approved nuclear medicine program that meets requirements
for Certification as established by State Guidelines Required

 

Work Experience (education can be substituted for experience)
1-3 years Preferred

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Current CPR Certification
Basic Computer Skills
ALARA guidelines
Must be able to meet hospital on-call requirements.
Licenses and Certifications

 

Licenses/Certifications 
Must be certified by the Nuclear Medicine
Technology Certification Board (N.M.T.C.B.),
or be ARRT Registered or be certified with the
State. State license required.
