We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Associate Vice President with over 12 years of project management or program management experience (including 5 years with a healthcare focus, 3+ years in portfolio management) to join our team. The Associate Vice President will oversee a portfolio of projects and programs, ensuring alignment with organizational strategic objectives and delivering maximum value. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing complex portfolios, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to drive results in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:
Portfolio Governance & Strategic Oversight:
· Lead and manage a portfolio of projects aligned with organizational strategic goals.
· Develop and maintain comprehensive portfolio plans, schedules, and budgets.
· Drive governance processes, including annual strategic planning.
· Oversee project intake, prioritization, and escalation pathways for efficient portfolio management.
· Refine Portfolio Change Management (project output release/version control).
· Establish, Maintain, and Improve the Escalation Path governance
Stakeholder & Financial Oversight:
· Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and communicate status, risks, and issues effectively.
· Monitor and manage portfolio budgets and financial targets through structured reporting.
· Ensure transparency and alignment through regular engagement and financial review.
Risk, Quality & Performance Assurance:
· Identify, assess, and mitigate risks while enforcing quality standards across project portfolio deliverables.
· Implement quality control processes and track performance using key performance indicators (KPIs).
· Drive continuous improvement of the ePMO to safeguard compliance and operational evolution.
ePMO Leadership and Continuous Improvement:
· Oversee multiple interrelated projects within the pipeline, developing comprehensive roadmaps with clear dependencies, risks, and milestones aligned with enterprise strategic objectives.
· Ensure sanctioned programs remain within scope, timeline, and budget through proactive project pipeline governance.
· Foster adaptable execution using agile, hybrid, or waterfall approaches as needed for ePMO project managers and enterprise project leaders.
· Iterate on a viable maturity model to ensure continuous improvement (i.e. CMMI or similar with tactical drive to manage upward development).
Engagement & Communication:
· Collaborate with executives, clinical leaders, IT teams, and external partners to align program objectives.
· Present clear status reports, dashboards, and financial summaries to senior leadership.
· Lead cross-functional meetings and steering committees to facilitate issue escalation and decision-making.
Risk Management, Innovation & Team Development:
· Proactively identify and mitigate risks using data-driven insights and predictive analytics.
· Drive process improvement initiatives with innovative tools and standardized practices.
· Mentor and coach teams, ensuring they are equipped with the training, resources, and collaborative environment needed for success.
Qualifications:
Required:
· Over 12 years of mixed engagement in project, program, and project portfolio management (PPM) with a proven track record of successfully managing implementation efforts aligned to strategic goals.
· Strong knowledge of portfolio management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
· Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to manage multiple projects and programs simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Proficiency in portfolio management software and tools.
· Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Preferred:
· Advanced degree (MHA, MBA, or equivalent) in Project Management or a related field.
· 5+ years of Program Management experience.
· PMI PMP, PMI PfMP, or PMI PgMP credential.
Work Environment:
· Professional office setting with a hybrid work environment available.
· Routine use of equipment including laptops, smartphones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and presentation materials.
· Onsite presence with in-market travel requirements.
· Ability to adjust work hours and dedicated equipment for any allotted work from home days (Eastern Time Zone).
Physical Demands:
· Ability to work in person for an onsite role with in-market presence required (travel / commute within multi-state healthcare site locations across Kentucky and West Virginia).
· Proficiency with keyboard use for efficient data entry.
· Ability to remain seated for extended periods.
· Capability to lift up to 20 pounds, including moving or adjusting light computer equipment.
