Overview

 

Under the guidance of Behavioral Health’s System Director of Inpatient Behavioral Health, the Behavioral Health Safety Coach promotes a safe environment and therapeutic environment for patients across the Service Lines’ operations. This position will lead Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and Workforce Violence Prevention trainings for Behavioral Health Staff, review and debrief with staff following behavioral health codes and provide remedial individual and group trainings, as needed.

 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a schedule of Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) trainings across the organization’s inpatient behavioral health campuses, providing or facilitating training for new employees and annual re-trainings for existing staff.
  • Audit Nonviolent Crisis Intervention trainings and instructors across the organization, coaching other NVCI instructors on how to improve trainings and staff engagement.
  • Facilitate debriefings following Behavioral Health Care Team’s and Codes, working with teams to analyze what happened and identify areas for improvement.
  • Gather, analyze and report information related to safety incidents to identify trends and, in concert with Risk professionals, develop actionable strategies for prevention.
  • Incorporate principles of adult learning in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs, creating a climate with supports learning across the organization.
  • Develops and deliver evidence-based educational programs and offerings.
  • Utilizes best practices in educational content delivery.
  • Adjusts educational content and teaching strategies based on appropriate learner needs, utilizing various media and formats.
  • Assume ownership and responsibility in attaining, developing, and maintaining educational and instructional expertise.
  • Ensures that educational programs are congruent with organizational missions, values, and goals.
  • Maintains flexibility when managing multiple roles/responsibilities.
  • Interprets and communicates across multiple disciplines.
  • Promotes a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Serves as a role mode to promote education, professionalism, excellence, and safety.
  • Leads committees, work groups, and/or projects related to the implementation of NVCI educational activities.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Education

High School Diploma - Required

Bachelors Degree in a Human Services Field – Strongly Preferred

 

Minimum Work Experience

3 years of Behavioral Health experience strongly preferred.

1 year of nursing education experience, preferred.

 

Required Licenses/Certifications

BLS Upon Hire

CPI Upon Hire

CPI Instructor Certificate within 90 Days of Hire

 

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Strong leadership and communication skills.

Expertise in Behavioral Health descilation practices.

Ability to develop and implement educational programs.

Proficiency in conducting NVCI audits and assessments.

Flexibility to travel and adapt to different facility environments.
