The Central Sterile Supply Worker is responsible to assemble, sterilize, and clean equipment, supplies and instruments according to prescribed procedures and techniques.

Responsibilities
Assures quality production of CSS trays and packs to decontaminate and sterilize surgical instruments, containers, linen and related equipment using steam and gas sterilizers or disinfectants with antiseptic solutions. Remove gas sterilizers
Assembles packs, trays, etc. according to established procedure and prescribed content and wraps same with specified coverings.
Must maintain awareness of environment and produce packs and trays simultaneously, as well as monitor autoclave readings, pressure settings, etc.
Transports sterile packets to proper storage area.
Documents loss of equipment and supplies.
Removes outdated items from stock and reprocesses as required.
May operate distilling equipment and prepares bottles of distilled water, normal saline, etc. and sterilizes same according to established procedures.
Secures required amount of linen from storage, sterilizes, sorts and folds all types of linen according to prescribed methods and stores in proper storage area.
May order supplies, linen, etc., as needed to maintain operations.
Maintains working area in clean and orderly condition.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED/equivalent Required
Ability to perform and understand specific and exact aseptic techniques. Required
Basic awareness of problem solving and decision making skills.
Basic awareness of digital literacy skills.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
Ability to deal tactfully with customers and community.
Ability to handle sensitive information ethically and responsibly.
Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
Ability to function in clinical setting with diverse cultural dynamics of clinical staff and patients.
