Under the direction of the therapist/assistant therapist, provides assistance in administering therapy treatments to patients.
1.Prepares patients for therapy treatment.
2.Assists in administering prescribed modality treatments such as hydrotherapy, electrotherapy, heat therapy and spinal traction
3. Assists patients in the performance of specified exercises under the supervision of a licensed therapist.
4.Assists patient in the use of assistive devices such as crutches, cane and walker. Assist in patient mobility transfers.
5.Measures and fits patients with assistive device such as crutches and walkers, etc.
6.Maintains equipment and work area in clean and safe manner at all times.
7.May transport patients to and from Rehabilitation Services department.
8.Ensures that equipment is in proper condition for patient use, and cleans/sterilizes equipment
9.Monitors the expiration dates of the medications, chemicals, food and alike and properly disposes the items that are expired.
10.Records daily patient register log and reconcile with the final department detail log
11.Submit copies or recover therapy records in Medical Records as required.
12.Keeps necessary records as directed, answers phone and take messages as required
13.Handles patient scheduling (includes rescheduling, cancellation and alike), with proper coordination from the therapist
14. Assists the therapists in sending and receiving documents to and from the referral source
15. Assist in collecting information such as satisfaction survey, general information, and questionnaires from the patients and clients.
16. Attends all required Safety Training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety and specific job related hazards.
17. Follows the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens.
18. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
19. Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter- and intra-departmentally to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
20. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Minimum Work Experience
Grade 3: Successful completion of competency following a six week on the job training period in the department of rehabilitation.
Grade 5: Completion of one-year on-the-job training in the department of department of physical medicine and rehabilitation or prescribed Armed Forces training.
