Overview

This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment across ARH facilities by implementing and monitoring physical security procedures, systems, and programs. This role provides a visible security presence, prevents unauthorized access, deters criminal activity, and ensures compliance with regulatory and safety standards. The Specialist supports facility leadership and employees by conducting inspections, managing access control, responding to incidents, and coordinating with security operations staff and external law enforcement agencies as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Security Presence: Provide a visible and professional physical security presence across ARH facilities to deter criminal activity and reassure staff, patients, and visitors.
• Access Control: Manage visitor screening, employee access, and physical protection devices to prevent unauthorized entry.
• Surveys & Inspections: Conduct technical security inspections and vulnerability surveys of facilities, documenting risks and recommending improvements.
• Incident Response: Respond promptly to security incidents, threats, or emergencies, coordinating with supervisors and external authorities as needed.
• Observation & Reporting: Monitor for suspicious activity through surveillance and patrols; prepare accurate, detailed incident reports.
• Crowd & Traffic Management: Provide support during events, emergencies, or high-traffic situations to ensure safe movement of people and vehicles.
• Collaboration: Assist supervisors, staff, and external agencies with security-related concerns, ensuring compliance with ARH policies and regulatory requirements.
• Administrative Support: Maintain documentation, support audits, and assist senior Security Operations staff in policy and procedure development.
• Geospatial & Surveillance Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret geospatial and surveillance data to identify patterns, threats, and vulnerabilities across ARH campuses. Utilize mapping and visualization tools (e.g., GIS software, surveillance analytics platforms) to provide actionable intelligence.
• Advanced Surveillance Techniques: Establish surveillance operations, set up covert observation equipment as required, detect and counter unauthorized surveillance or tracking devices, and ensure secure communication methods.
• Reporting & Presentation: Prepare detailed geospatial and surveillance reports

Qualifications


Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or related field preferred.

• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

Minimum Work Experience
• 3–5 years of progressive experience in security operations, law enforcement, or related field.

• Prior healthcare or critical infrastructure security experience strongly preferred.

 

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
• Knowledge of physical security systems, access control, and protective devices (e.g., magnetometers, CCTV).

• Strong observational, communication, and incident-report writing skills.

• Proficiency in surveillance techniques, including covert monitoring, geospatial data analysis, and use of GIS/mapping tools.

• Ability to detect and counter surveillance efforts, including identifying tracking devices and securing communications.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret geospatial and surveillance data for practical security applications.

• Ability to manage stress, make decisions under pressure, and respond quickly in emergencies.

• Proficiency in coordinating with law enforcement and regulatory agencies.

• Ability to communicate complex security and geospatial information to non-technical audiences.
