The Director of Medical Imaging is accountable for managing all technical aspects of the Radiology Department in
regard to services, programs, and evaluation of such programs.
Manages the department in an efficient manner by planning, organizing, and controlling all activities of the
department to obtain maximum results.
Schedules work assignments and coordinates requests for radiologic services to insure adequate coverage of the
department at all times.
Supervises and maintains radiologic services in compliance with standards established by the hospital and state,
local and federal standards.
Evaluates the quality and appropriateness of services being provided in the department through an on-going
program of quality assurance.
Schedules all special procedures in accordance with other standard procedures being performed, performs all
isotope examinations and performs general technical duties as required.
Performs all special or difficult examinations in order to obtain satisfactory results. Assists Radiologist with
difficult procedures.
Develops and maintains the technical aspect of radiologic safety recommending programming, monitoring, and
location of warning devices in carrying out radiation safety.
Makes recommendations for employment, termination, promotion, and disciplinary action regarding department
personnel. Evaluates subordinates on a regular basis.
Maintains an up-to-date knowledge in radiology to allow recommendation of new services, products and
equipment.
Supervises training and staff development of personnel in the department and assures that employees receive
proper orientation.
Makes minor repairs to equipment and assures that equipment is kept in good working order and may
recommend equipment modification, new equipment and essential construction within the department.
Assures that appropriate and accurate records are prepared on a timely basis.
Prepares departmental budget as required.
Coordinates department purchasing and maintains proper stock level, storage, and utilization of supplies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Associate's Degree Graduate of an AMA approved school of radiologic technology. Required
Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Four (4) years experience in performing routine and special procedures. Required
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required.
