Under the direct supervision of the trauma program manager, the trauma registrar abstracts medical information from records and enters clinical data in the state registry data-base.
1. Entry of clinical data of abstracted charts of trauma patients in the state registry in a timely manner per trauma guidelines
2. Abstraction of clinical data from charts of trauma patients when needed
3. Collaborates with the trauma program manager and other hospital staff in maintaining updated policies and procedures related to trauma-under the trauma program manager’s direction.
4. Actively participates in ongoing preparation for any/all state agencies, as well as the ACS, site visits
5. Collaborates in a professional manner with all members of the healthcare team to promote the goals and objectives of the trauma department
6. Maintains active participation in the Trauma Multi-Disciplinary Committee and the performance improvement process.
NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Nonessential functions are those tasks, duties and responsibilities that are not critical to the performance of the job. Following are the nonessential functions of the job, along with the corresponding performance standards.
1. Maintains current and accurate meeting minutes of the Trauma Multi-Disciplinary Committee and the Trauma Peer Review Committee
2. Schedules and informs medical staff and hospital staff of any and all trauma meetings
3. Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Education
• High school diploma or GED equivalent;
• Associate Degree in Nursing or Health Information Management preferred
Minimum Work Experience
• Medical related experience preferred
• Experience with information technology software including word processing, database management, presentation and compilation of data/patient records preferred.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
• Ability to listen, interact, and communicate verbally and in writing required
• Must be detail oriented and possess strong organizational skills
• Knowledge of ICD-9-CM and CPT4 HCPs coding systems preferred
