Overview

This is a system level position that provides oversight of all AHA/ENA, Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation, & AVADE certification programs, in collaboration with the Director of the ARH Training Center, AVP of Nursing Education & Professional Practice, and facility Nursing Leadership.

 

The Nursing & Instructional Trainer has the overall responsibility for assuring that current and future certification training/programs are delivered in accordance with ARH expectations and those of the certification bodies involved (AHA, ENA, AVADE, Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation, etc.). Additionally, the Nursing & Instructional Trainer will maintain instructor certifications in all these areas and deliver classes across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide AHA/ENA Instructor Level Courses
• Conduct AHA/ENA Staff Training
• Conduct AVADE Staff Training
• Provide Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation (CRI) Instructor Courses
• Develop/Maintain/Evaluate Annual Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation Competency Exams
• Assist with Auditing/Evaluating AHA/ENA/AVADE/CRI Training Classes
• Provide Support to Clinical Nurse Educators for AHA/ENA/AVADE/CRI Classes

 

• AHA & ENA Instructor Training & Program Evaluation
-Oversee and Deliver AHA and ENA Instructor classes
-Audit ARH Internal AHA/ENA Instructors/classes for adherence to AHA/ENA and ARH standards
-Audit ARH Internal AHA/ENA classes for adherence to AHA/ENA and ARH standards
-Audit External AHA classes (through the ARH AHA Training Center) for adherence to AHA standards
-Maintain Database of all ARH Internal AHA and ENA instructions, along with number of classes taught
-Evaluate effectiveness of AHA/ENA trainings, in collaboration with Director of ARH Training Center and identify opportunities for increasing revenue by optimizing resources and open class spaces
• Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation (CRI) Instructor Training & CRI Exam/Competency Coordination
-Oversee and Deliver Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation Instructor Courses
-Audit Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation Instructors/classes for adherence to ARH standards
-Coordinate and deliver CRI Classes in collaboration with Clinical Nurse Educators
-Create/update/deliver/proctor Initial & Annual Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation Competency Exams
• AVADE Training
-Maintain AVADE Instructor Certification, all curriculums, all levels
-Teach AVADE training classes across the organization
-Audit AVADE instructors/classes for adherence to ARH and AVADE standards
-Conduct needs assessment for additional instructor needs and/or removal of current instructors
-Maintain database of all AVADE instructors and number of classes taught
• Future Trainings
-Oversee and deliver future training/certification programs as acquired

Qualifications


Education:
• Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN or ASN) and/or a Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP) currently enrolled in an Associate Degree in Nursing Program or higher.

 

Work Experience:
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in the healthcare and/or nursing education fields.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience teaching AHA or other healthcare related certification classes

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Current and valid license or compact license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Kentucky or WV and/Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP)
• Nursing Specialty Certification Required within two (2) years of hire
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation, and AVADE instructor status
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Travel will be required

 

Licenses/Certifications
• Registered Nurse – Single State or Compact, Preferred and/or
• Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP)
