The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for the design, and supervision of installation, repairs, maintenance and renovations to ARH facilities performed by employees of the Central Maintenance Unit.
Design and prepare blueprints, schematics and specifications for proposed renovations, equipment installation and changes to equipment.
Prepare cost estimates for labor and materials for proposed projects.
Specify supplies for assigned jobs.
Interpret blueprints and specifications as required.
Prepare detailed plans suitable to obtain regulatory agency approval for projects where no architectural or engineering firm has this responsibility.
Inspect work subcontracted by Central Maintenance to determine if in accordance with plans and/or specifications and may inspect work subcontracted by hospitals.
Plan, schedule and inspect preventive maintenance programs implemented by central maintenance personnel.
Manage Corporate maintenance & construction programs for ARH facilities.
Conduct inspections of fire alarm and sprinkler systems for certification as required by state regulatory agencies.
Assists in the preparation of budgets.
Provide technical assistance to hospital maintenance staff.
Monitor and control labor, travel and vehicle expenses for assigned project.
Perform other related duties within the scope of the job classification.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Must have an Associate Degree in electrical, mechanical, or architectural engineer;
OR
High school graduate or equivalent and have graduated from a technical training school or completed a formal apprenticeship;
AND
Minimum of five years experience in the hospital or industrial maintenance field. Two of the five years must be in a supervisory position.
May be required to possess a valid Kentucky plumber's license and/or a fire alarm and sprinkler system license.
POSITION PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess the physical ability needed to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally; and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently; and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for medium work
