Overview

Responsible for direction and management of facilities to ensure that the buildings, grounds, and facility equipment are maintained in optimum operating condition to create a safe, comfortable, clean, attractive, healing environment for the care of patients. Directing and overseeing the development, design, and implementation of a thorough preventive maintenance programs.  Provides sound and professional advice to the CCEO’s, System Construction leadership, architects and construction firms on current and proposed construction projects and major equipment purchases. Hires, supervises and trains Maintenance personnel and any others under the scope of his/her responsibility. Responsible for designing staffing plans and managing personnel to achieve optimal staff performance. Responsible for overseeing activities necessary to meet facility regulatory requirements and assuring required documentation is complete.

Responsibilities

 

  • Develops and manages departmental capital and operating budgets.
  • Directs activities related to the analysis, inspection, construction, and maintenance of facilities.
  • Ensures facility environments are maintained in accordance with Environment of Care standards and all applicable state and federal codes and regulations, including CMS regulations, state facility codes and licensure requirements, FGI (AIA) Guidelines, NFPA standards, and ASHRAE guidelines.
  • Oversees Environment of Care services for all facilities within the assigned span of control.
  • Provides direction and oversight to Facility Management staff and, when assigned, Environmental Services managers.
  • Identifies Environment of Care issues in collaboration with facility leadership and develops and implements corrective actions.
  • Ensures construction projects requiring state permitting are reported to the ARH System leader responsible for Design and Construction.
  • Collaborates with leadership, System Design and Construction, and contractors to ensure newly constructed and existing facilities comply with Life Safety Code requirements.
  • Works with ARH System Design, Construction, and Project Management teams to plan, coordinate, complete, and commission capital construction projects.
  • Develops Interim Life Safety (ILS) and Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) plans in collaboration with Infection Control and monitors compliance throughout project execution.
  • Consults with contractors to develop plans, specifications, and cost estimates for minor renovation and remodeling projects that do not require state-permitted architectural or engineering plans.
  • Reviews cost estimates, plans, and specifications prior to project implementation to ensure compliance with budgetary, policy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborates with Administration to develop and submit Project Plans for capital projects in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Utilizes the Work Order Management System to schedule, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance activities and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Assigns staff responsibilities for preventive maintenance and facility repair activities and ensures completion is properly documented in the work order system.
  • Collaborates with leadership to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy costs.
  • Works with Purchasing, Administration, System Design and Construction, and other Facility Management leaders to review specifications for major equipment and provide recommendations regarding purchase and installation.
  • Inspects and evaluates the appearance and aesthetics of facilities and campuses within the assigned area of responsibility and initiates corrective actions as needed.
  • Travels between ARH facilities as requested by CCEOs and System leaders.
  • Establishes and manages staffing levels and productivity for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Procures tools, materials, and supplies necessary for facility maintenance in accordance with ARH Purchasing Policies and Procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

Preferred Education

  • Degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, Construction Management, Facility Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Two-year college degree or technical school graduate with a focus in a facility trade or a related industrial or healthcare management field preferred.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a healthcare facility management setting, with a related regulatory agency, or as an industrial trade contractor.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Basic computer skills.
