The Regional Medical Staff Professional is accountable for providing support to the Medical Staff
at each hospital within the designated ARH Region. The Regional Medical Staff Professional
reports directly to the System Director of Medical Affairs and Provider Enrollment.
Specific activities include:
· Have knowledge of organizational policies and Medical Staff Bylaws
· Critically analyzing data to create informed recommendations for credentialing, re-
credentialing and privileging proceedings for the Medical Staff
· Prepare correspondence to the Medical Staff members or other entities as needed
· Assisting with requests for access to credentialing files.
· Assisting Medical Staff Leadership with enforcing Medical Staff Bylaws, rules and
regulations and policies that govern the activities of the Medical Staff and networking
providers
· Coordinates and attends Medical Staff meetings which may include but are not limited
to Medical Executive Committee, Medical Staff, Credentials Committee or Quality
Management Operations Committee or equivalent committees.
· Responsible for departmental notification process related to new Medical Staff
members.
· Responsible for coordinating meeting invitations, preparing meeting minutes,
distributing meeting materials and coordinating catering requests, if needed.
· Establishing systems to facilitate meetings and communication between practitioners, both within and outside their specialties, as well as with a hospital’s administration · Responsible for ensuring practitioner performance data documents are viewed and appropriate risk events are shared and utilized by the Medical Staff as part of the credentialing recommendation · Knowledgeability of accreditation standards related to Medical Staff functions · Participates in regulatory and accreditation survey processes · Serve as a liaison for the medical staff making sure key communication is shared with the members. · Ensure correspondence is provided to the medical staff timely. · May assist with preparation of emergency call schedule · Responsible for recordkeeping of credentialing application fees and Medical Staff dues · Performs other related duties as assigned
Education
Associate Degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred; Certification as a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred but not required.
Minimum Work Experience
Regional Medical Staff Professional:
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the credentialing field required.
Senior Regional Medical Staff Professional: Minimum of 5 years of
relevant experience in the credentialing field required.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Experience/knowledge:
Medical Staff governance
Windows-based programs; Word, Excel.
Credentialing software preferred, but not required
Project management
Critical thinking
Must be able to perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
Must be able to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Must be very detail oriented.
Must possess excellent organizational, written and oral communications skills.
