Overview

Retail Pharmacy Manager is responsible for providing qualitycomprehensive pharmaceutical care and services to patients at any ARH or affiliated unit as assigned 

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and performs the functions involved in theaccurateand efficient dispensing of prescriptions. 
  • Reviews, fills, and verifies medication orders for accuracy and completeness for dispensing.
  • Monitorspatient's drug therapy to detect/prevent drug interactions, contraindications, and other adverse reactions. 
  • Makesappropriate interventionsto improve patient care. 
  • Uses and is proficient in the operation of the pharmacy computer system.
  • Compounds and dispenses medications and other pharmaceutical agents/products.
  • Obtains pertinent patient medication/medical information.
  • Provides current andaccuratedrug information to patients and health care professionals. 
  • Maintainsappropriate records and inventory on all drugs/pharmaceutical agents. 
  • Monitorsthe proper storage and distribution of inventory, including controlled substances. 
  • Communicates effectively with patients, health care professionals, and coworkers.
  • Trains and supervises pharmacy supportive personnel, including, but not limited to staff pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, attendants, delivery drivers, and pharmacy care navigators.
  • Maintainsand directs pharmacy operational workflow. 
  • Serves on hospital and systemcommitteesassigned. 
  • Dispense and/or administer medications to patientsin accordance withARH policies, including but not limited to, all routes of immunizations, naloxone, and injectable medications where permitted by law. 
  • Complete and properly document medication therapy management interventions.
  • Ensures compliance with company and legal policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ensures confidentiality of information, documentation, and records.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required.

Licenses & Certifications

• Licensed Pharmacist required.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

• Knowledge of pharmaceutical care principles and medication management.

• Ability to accurately review, interpret, and evaluate medication orders.

• Knowledge of drug interactions, contraindications, dosing, and therapeutic monitoring.

• Ability to provide medication counseling and education to patients and caregivers.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

• Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to maintain accurate documentation and comply with regulatory requirements.

• Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations.

• Strong communication and customer service skills.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment.
