Overview

This Food Production Coordinator is accountable for supervising and coordinating activities of the dietary department employees in preparing, cooking, and serving foods and cleaning of department.

 

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and monitors food service employee activities to assure standards in dietetic services are met. This includes food service to patients, cafeteria, vending, and special functions.
  • Assures compliance of diet orders by maintaining current records and making necessary changes in menus.
  • Recommends appropriate staffing levels and may recommend hiring, promoting, discharging, and/or disciplining of employees. Evaluates work performance of employees.
  • Plans and conducts in-service training for employees on new equipment and all applicable work procedures.
  • Provides diet instructions to patients and significant others, as assigned.
  • Requisitions supplies, checks deliveries, and insures proper storage of supplies in kitchen area and food refrigerators in patient area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

Education

• High School graduate or GED required.

• Graduate of an approved Dietary Manager's Program preferred.

• Experience in food service supervision, management, and training through a military service program equivalent in content to an approved Dietary Manager's Program is acceptable.

Experience

• Three (3) years of food service experience required.

• Knowledge of therapeutic diets required.

• Supervisory experience required.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

• Knowledge of therapeutic diets and nutritional service operations.

• Experience in food service supervision and staff management.

• Ability to train and develop dietary services personnel.

• Familiarity with labor/management relations desirable.

• Strong organizational and leadership skills.

• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, and healthcare team members.

• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
