The Cook is responsible for the preparation and storage of all foods in a safe, sanitary and efficient manner as required for direct patient care and for cafeteria and catering services.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• One (1) year of experience in quantity food preparation required; OR
• One (1) year of on-the-job upgraded experience required to attain proficiency in the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
• Must be able to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions.
• Must be able to make simple arithmetic calculations and computations.
• Ability to prepare food in accordance with recipes, dietary requirements, and food safety standards.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced food service environment.
• Ability to maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards in food preparation areas.
• Ability to work cooperatively with patients, residents, visitors, and healthcare team members.
• Must obtain a valid Food Handler's Permit for the appropriate county.
• Food Handler's Permit requires successful completion of a written examination.
